Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you create an account and use RunThink:

• Account information: your first name, last initial, email address, and password.
• Activity type: whether you identify as a runner, walker, roller, cyclist, swimmer, or golfer.
• Forum posts and journal entries: any content you submit to the RunThink community forum or your private journal.
• Feedback: any messages you send through the in-app feedback form.
• Usage data: app usage information such as your last active date, app open frequency, and in-app actions like creating a post or enabling reminders. We use this only to understand how RunThink is used and to improve the app.
• Apple Health data (optional): if you grant access to Apple Health, we read your recent workout data including activity types, distances, and durations.
• Wellbeing check-in responses: periodic, optional self-reported answers to a short question about how often you feel stuck in your own head, used to understand community wellbeing over time.
• Purchase and subscription data: if you subscribe to RunThink Premium, we and our payment processor RevenueCat process your subscription status, purchase history, and renewal date to grant access to premium features.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and personalize the RunThink experience
• Display your name and activity type in the community forum
• Show activity stats alongside your forum posts (if you attach a workout)
• Send you push notifications and app updates you have opted into
• Review feedback and reported content to keep the community safe
• Improve the app based on usage patterns
• Grant access to features you've purchased, such as RunThink Premium

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider, on servers located in the United States. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not store your full last name — only your last initial is used for community display purposes.

Journal entries marked as private are stored with row-level security and are only accessible by you. No other users, including administrators, can view your private journal entries.

4. Apple Health Data

If you grant RunThink access to Apple Health:

• We read your recent workout data (type, distance, duration) on your device solely so you can attach a workout to your posts
• Health data stays on your device — we only store the details of a workout you explicitly attach to a post
• We do not sell, share, or use your health data for any other purpose
• You can revoke access at any time in your iPhone's Settings under Privacy & Security → Health
• RunThink is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc.

5. Wellbeing Check-In Data

From time to time, RunThink asks a short, optional question — "How often do you feel stuck inside your own head?" — to help us understand how our community is doing over time.

• Answering is always optional; you can defer and answer another time, or skip it entirely
• Each response is stored with your account and the date it was given so we can track change over time — it is never shown to other users or displayed publicly
• This data is used only for internal, aggregate wellbeing insights and to improve RunThink's content and features
• You can request deletion of this data at any time by contacting us

6. Email Communications

By creating an account, you may receive transactional emails from RunThink such as password resets and account confirmations. Your email is managed through Mailchimp and Resend. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any email. We will never sell your email address to third parties.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data with trusted service providers (Supabase, Mailchimp, Resend, RevenueCat, and Apple) solely for the purpose of operating the app and processing subscription payments. We may disclose information if required by law.

8. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we store your device push token to deliver notifications such as daily reminders, rabbit alerts, and reply alerts. You can disable notifications at any time from your profile settings or your device settings. We use Expo's push notification service to deliver notifications.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of marketing communications

10. International Users & EEA/UK Rights

RunThink is operated from the United States, and the servers that store your data (Supabase) are also located in the United States. If you use RunThink from outside the US, your information will be transferred to, and processed in, the US, which may not have the same data protection laws as your home country. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland

You have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and, where applicable, the UK GDPR. In addition to the rights listed in Section 9, you have the right to:

• Restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances
• Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including for analytics
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent (for example, Apple Health access or the optional wellbeing check-in)
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority — for example, the Irish Data Protection Commission if you are in Ireland — if you believe we have not handled your data properly

Our legal basis for processing

• Contract: account information and subscription data, needed to provide the app and RunThink Premium
• Consent: Apple Health access, wellbeing check-in responses, and marketing emails — each requires your explicit opt-in and can be withdrawn at any time
• Legitimate interest: usage data and feedback review, used to keep the app working and the community safe

How long we keep your data

We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within a reasonable period afterward, except where we're required to keep certain records by law.

11. Website Analytics & Cookies

This section covers the RunThink website (runthink.app), separately from the app described above.

Our website uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. When enabled, Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, your device and browser type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address, which Google processes. We use this information in aggregate to measure traffic. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not use Google Analytics inside the app itself.

Your choice

• When you first visit the site, we ask whether you consent to analytics. Until you accept, Google Analytics runs in a restricted mode that sets no cookies and stores no identifier on your device.
• If you accept, analytics cookies are enabled. If you decline, they are not, and analytics stays in the restricted mode.
• You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the consent banner back on your next visit.

We rely on your consent as the legal basis for analytics cookies. You can read how Google uses data at Google's Privacy Policy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

12. Children's Privacy

RunThink is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
